I am hard on romantic comedies. I’m hard on character studies. I’m hard on war movies. I’m very, very hard on coming of age movies. And don’t even get me started on musicals.
I am not hard on space movies, post-apocalyptic (severely post-apocalyptic) movies, ghost movies, and monster movies (you may think I should just say horror movies, but there is one important exception: serial killer movies. Hannibal Lecter remains the only serial killer villain that I can even take seriously, much less be scared of). And I am very, very lenient with humorous monster movies.
Oh yeah, I’m also pretty nice to Danny Boyle, David Lynch, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Soderbergh, the Coen Brothers, Sofia Coppola, Robert Rodriguez, Jean Pierre-Jeunet, Spike Lee, Katsuhiro Otomo, Takashi Miike, Edgar Wright, and Robert Zemeckis; Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, George Clooney, Leonardo diCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Djimon Hounsou, Jack Nicholson, Jodie Foster, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, and Laura Linney.
